In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven.
Think
Because Jesus rose from the dead, Luke was inspired to write about a living Jesus.
Pray
God, we thank you for the oomph of resurrection, which took the apostles into a new realm and into new possibilities. Thank you for this doctor Luke who came from outside into the young church and did what only he could do, writing up the Jesus story. Thank you for those who received these writings and kept them safe for us. Thank you for people like this Theophilus, who learned to live his name and discover a new way to love God. Thank you for all who have discovered that new beginnings are possible, spirit-enabled, and fruitful beyond our dreams.
Guide those who write about faith and life, and help me today to write well in the book of my life, as a living letter to those around me, through the Spirit of this living Lord, Amen.
