Philippians 2: 6-9 (NRSVA)
6 who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God
as something to be exploited,
7 but emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
being born in human likeness.
And being found in human form,
8 he humbled himself
and became obedient to the point of death—
even death on a cross.9 Therefore God also highly exalted him
and gave him the name
that is above every name,
The Gospel is summed up in these four verses. God in Jesus of Nazareth became one of us. He became blind to his own glory, stepping into our world, into our darkness, so that we might in turn step out of our darkness into his world of light and receive our spiritual sight.
Here is another Bogle Band song highlighting the hope that Jesus Christ brings to the world ‘When Grace Comes Into Town’, listen on the Sanctuary First site: sanctuaryfirst.org.uk/music/article/when-grace-comes-to-town
PRAYER:
Lord,
You became nothing
That we might become something
You entered into our darkness
That we might never be alone
You entered our death
That we might learn to live
You embraced our sorrow
That we might feel joy
You absorbed our hate
That we might learn to love
You walked out of our darkness
That we might follow you into the light
