Taking the risk
John 7: 37-38
37 On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, 38 and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, “Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.”’
You cried out.
Was it a spontaneous outburst?
or had you been standing there
watching the weary crowds for a while?
Working up to your declaration.
You cried out.
Wanting to make sure everyone heard.
‘Anyone who is thirsty,’
Anyone.
And we all thirst, Lord, even you.
You cried out.
Raising your voice
inviting the risk takers
to come and to drink
and to become in turn
living water for others
letting justice and peace
flow down like rivers
You cried out and
so shall we.
