Such a time as this
Ephesians 4:1-7
Ephesians 4:1-7
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
Ephesians 4: 15-16
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Lord, speaking the truth in love seems to get me into situations I’d sooner not find myself in. It’s as if trouble follows me around. Honestly Lord, it’s not as if I go out of my way to look for situations where I have to “take a stand” , they seem to just keep coming up.
I need help today, I just cannot see a way of not causing upset. Please let me find a balanced way forward, a way which does not result in compromise but also a way that is not predetermined by my own self righteousness and self importance.
Please help me to see that “for such a time as this” you have me in the moment , please help me to see it matters, please help me to realise that I have to rely on you.
Oh, and I nearly forgot, thank you that you put me in these moments time and time. I am slowly beginning to see that you are doing a work in me too.
Fancy that Lord, thank you Father.
Amen
