Strength to face your cross
John 12:27-29
Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say–’ Father, save me from this hour’? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour.
Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”
The crowd standing there heard it and said that it was thunder. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say–’ Father, save me from this hour’? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour.

God the Father of the One who went to the cross -
what must it be like to see a loved one walk a path of such danger?
Lord Jesus,
we can understand why you would voice your anxiety about the road ahead.
So,
today we pray for those who are anxious about the cross shaped challenges that lie in front of them
and we pray for
mothers and fathers
sisters and brothers
lovers and friends
who so often have to stand at a distance
sharing the anxiety but helpless to change the circumstances that their loved ones face.
As you found the strength to face your cross,
so may we given the strength to face ours.
Amen
