Speaking from experience!
Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 34: 4-7 (MSG)
4 God met me more than halfway,
he freed me from my anxious fears.5 Look at him; give him your warmest smile.
Never hide your feelings from him.6 When I was desperate, I called out,
and God got me out of a tight spot.7 God’s angel sets up a circle
of protection around us while we pray.
Such honesty from the Psalmist!
What an encouragement, if not instruction, to be vulnerable with God ‘never hide your feelings from him’. And do it remembering how and when you were met by God, when God came to your rescue, when God unclasped each and every anxiety, worry, negative thought from your mind.
Remember the tenderness of God and His strength to move you and obstacles, change circumstances and atmospheres.
God made the heavens and the earth, nothing is impossible with God, don’t forget how big God is!
Don’t lose sight of the fact that all of Heaven comes to help you in the middle of a storm and when we pray about all these circumstances there is angelic protection around us.
Nothing comes between you, me, us and the Lord when we pray.
Stay focused on and remember who God is at all times!
Yip, that is an incredible encouragement, isn’t it? So how do we do that today?
Our family home used to be a lovely wee 2 bedroom railway cottage; 2 parents, 3 kids under the age of 10, and 2 Labradors. To say it was a squash and a squeeze was an understatement! I loved our home but, oh goodness, was it physically a tight spot and we were in a tight spot financially too but we needed to move. We turned to God in prayer remembering how he had blessed us with this wee home in the first place, trusting He would do it again. Jesus had me in the right place at the right time to ‘bump’ into a neighbour at a large summer Christian festival, who was about to put their family home on the market. Two months later we moved into their old home as our new home and they were gracious to accept all that we could afford to offer for it. Hallelujah!
I always thank God for his kindness to us in this situation. What is the cry of a wee family of five needing a sufficiently sized home at a price they could manage to the Creator of the Universe? Evidently everything. I trust God that the mercy and compassion shown to us is there for others who need a home, a safe and healthy place to live. When I walk past our old cottage, I am reminded of the wonder of God’s love prompted by the Holy Spirit to pray for those who need that now.
God’s goodness in our lives, that we are to remember, is there to bless us AND motivate us to pray for those now standing in the situations we once used to. Jesus wants the ends of the earth to know and experience the Father’s love and goodness, this is one way we get to partner with Him in that.
What is your smile to God about today? What are you remembering?
Prayer:
Tender Father of our Lord Jesus, my heart is full of thanks for how you love your children and show your love in this world. We all need your love and sometimes you answer our prayers as we imagine and so often you go beyond what we could possibly hope for. Help anyone who is patiently waiting on your answers and provision.
Holy Spirit encourage us to trust in the goodness of the Father today.
Let our lives be a place full of your hope, love and light so anyone we encounter today experiences your love and wants to know more about Jesus.
Amen.
