Psalm 27: 4-5 (NRSVA)

One thing I asked of the Lord,
    that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
    and to inquire in his temple.

5 

For he will hide me in his shelter
    in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
    he will set me high on a rock.

Well done everyone, we made it to a new year!

Whether you are approaching this new time with excitement or trepidation, there is one thing you can be sure of: you have a place in God’s house. A seat on God’s armchair.

God will outlast any New Year’s resolution, God will be stronger than any misfortune, God will be more faithful than anyone else ever could be.

If you are able to today, take a seat with God and talk about what this next year might hold.

 

Prayer:

 

Dear God of our future

Help us to look towards this next year through your eyes

Give us hope and inspiration

Lend us strength and purpose

Gift us rest and security.
