Psalm 67 (NRSVA)

1 May God be gracious to us and bless us
    and make his face to shine upon us,Selah
2 that your way may be known upon earth,
    your saving power among all nations.
3 Let the peoples praise you, O God;
    let all the peoples praise you.

4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
    for you judge the peoples with equity
    and guide the nations upon earth.Selah
5 Let the peoples praise you, O God;
    let all the peoples praise you.

6 The earth has yielded its increase;
    God, our God, has blessed us.
7 May God continue to bless us;
    let all the ends of the earth revere him.

What I am about to say will be challenging. I say it to challenge myself as much as everyone else.

Do you know that researchers found that it only needs 3.5% of the population actively engaged in peaceful protest to bring about change?

With that in mind I wonder why we haven’t managed to bring about real and lasting change in how we care for the environment?

Is it because we are singing the wrong song?

Is it that instead of praising God we are praising money and wealth?

Is it that instead of praising God we are praising a life of convenience?

Is it that instead of praising God we are praising a life of short term gain and to hell with the consequences?

PRAYER:

Lord teach us again to praise you,

To sing your song.

Your song of love,

Your song of justice,

Your song of mercy,

Your song of restoration.

Teach us again to praise you,

To sing your song.

With all creation

We will sing.

Amen
