Short-Sighted Living
Hebrews 11:22
By faith, Joseph spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt….
For the Hebrew people the words of blessing were seen as a prophetic act. To bless the children and grandchildren is to invite God to act in their lives for their good and for the shaping of their character within the people of God. Taking our cue from the blessings mentioned in Hebrews 11: 2-18 we will bless the next generation.
Father, Joseph’s four centuries of foresight
remind us that you operate in long strides
in long rhythms of grace.
Forgive our short-sighted living,
stealing tomorrow’s resources
from our children’s children.
Bless this beautiful planet
which we will cherish and bequeath to….......................
for them to enjoy and cherish in their time.
