Isaiah 40:31

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Dear God
There is a sense of anticipation...
The annual road race is about to begin
And on this bright August morning
Ripples of delight lift our spirits
softly spilling like sunshine -
Dancing within our hearts
The runners are a blur of colour and energy
Celebrating the joy of living
Freedom of running with the wind
And are we not all part of this race of life, God
Travelling together towards the light,
On a journey of hope, walking in Your love.
May we always keep our feet on the ground
But reach for the stars
Knowing we are each unconditionally loved
Each created uniquely by You.
Let us run with perseverance
The race that is set before us,
For you promise,
“Those who wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up on wings like eagles
They shall run and not be weary
They shall walk and not faint”
And though I stand on the sideline
cheering - like many others
I thank you that we can all
run in the race of eternal life
Knowing you are beside us always
Through lush valleys and rugged glens
On our individual journey
And when we reach the finish line
Your arms will open wide in warm embrace
Welcoming us home.
