Rest for the Soul
Matthew 11: 28-29
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
At rest?
Or oppressed?
Does it really just depend on which ‘yoke’ I put on?
Is it that simple, Lord?
Then why do I do not just do what you say
and come to you
and learn from you?
You’ve promised to be here for me,
why am I so seldom there for you?
Jesus, I’m going to promise right now to turn to you more often,
and not just when I am weary and burdened.
Help me to be more like you
when it comes to keeping my word.
