Resources for the Task
Acts 1:1-5
Dear Theophilus: In my first book I wrote about all the things that Jesus did and taught from the time he began his work until the day he was taken up to heaven. Before he was taken up, he gave instructions by the power of the Holy Spirit to the men he had chosen as his apostles. For forty days after his death he appeared to them many times in ways that proved beyond doubt that he was alive. They saw him, and he talked with them about the Kingdom of God. And when they came together, he gave them this order: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift I told you about, the gift my Father promised. John baptised with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
Loving God, sometimes when I see a job to be done, a step to be taken, a decision to be made, a challenge to be faced, or a solution to be found I want to get on with it. I confess my impatience.
Sometimes, you say: 'Wait. You can't do it yourself or in your own strength or depending on your own ability. You need help and I can give it'.
Father, fill me with your Spirit that I may know when it is right to take a step or get the job done or accept the challenge. Fill me with your Spirit so that I may have the strength, the wisdom, and the discernment always to move according to your will. In Jesus name. AMEN
