Reflecting his goodness
Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 67 (NIV)
1 May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face shine on us—
2 so that your ways may be known on earth,
your salvation among all nations.3 May the peoples praise you, God;
may all the peoples praise you.
4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you rule the peoples with equity
and guide the nations of the earth.
5 May the peoples praise you, God;
may all the peoples praise you.6 The land yields its harvest;
God, our God, blesses us.
7 May God bless us still,
so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.
The theme of the psalm is blessing. God blesses us so that we might be a blessing to all.
The harvest is plentiful when the harvest is shared — then the nations see God’s blessing, and praise will flow to God as the one who provides and cares for his people.
When God’s face shines upon us, when we walk in his ways, something wonderful happens. It is described in the words of Jesus to his disciples. “By this shall all know you are my disciples, if you have love, one for another.” Jesus prayed for unity among his people, that the world looking on might see our love, and know that God cares for them too.
Grace is love that stoops and saves. As God accepts us and reconciles us into his family, so we must extend the same grace to our families and beyond, share God’s peace, and ensure that all are welcomed.
PRAYER:
May we be blessed, and may we serve God with our whole being,
and in our unity, reflecting his goodness back to him in praise,
may all see his gracious love for the world. Amen.
