Questioning the voices

February 16, 2013 0 0

GENESIS 3 v 1

The snake was the most cunning animal that the Lord God had made.  The snake asked the woman, “Did God really tell you not to eat fruit from any tree in the garden?”

Lord, may we question the voices that make us doubt others.  When we listen to another stepping over a line we would not ourselves want to cross, guide us in guarding our ears as we would guard our tongues. Let us remember the damage that we might do or may have already done.    Let us watch carefully over our tendency to shift the blame to another and see honestly and openly where our thoughts and actions have contributed to the tensions and the breakdowns. Help us to avoid cynicism and derision. May we not listen to the voice of the serpent but even more, may we never BE the voice of the serpent.

Amen
