Profit and loss

Philippians 3:7, 8

But what was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.
What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness
of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.

Profit and loss, maximising gain,
how to get the most for our money,
how to have bigger, better, faster, shinier……
Lord why have we become so obsessed with earthy possessions
and why do we always seem to want to compare what we have with what someone else has?  
If all our earthly possessions vanished overnight we would still have you.  
Having too many 'things' just makes the journey harder.  
Help us to throw out all that is unnecessary in our lives and to travel light.  
Help us to make room for the really important things;
faith, hope and love.   

As we journey on may we be content with the gifts you have given us
and with the knowledge that we will always have you.
