Priceless

Psalm 118: 22
22 The stone which the builders rejected as worthless
turned out to be the most important of all.
Recently I found myself watching a repeat of that episode in “Only Fools and Horses” where Del and Rodney find a watch in their garage which they thought was worthless but which a friend told them could be valuable. It went to auction and made millions! The sight of the twosome fainting and falling backwards at the news of their windfall is priceless itself! Del always used to say to Rodney that “this time next year we’ll be millionaires”, he always looked on the bright side.
Without taking the analogy too far, Jesus is like that watch in the garage; the religious of his day rejected Jesus, many people still do today, ignore him as if worthless. But we who have turned to Jesus know how rich we are, blessed by our living Lord who gives us life in all its fullness.
Prayer:
My Jesus, my Saviour, there is none like you. You are more than gold or silver, only you can satisfy our deepest longings and hopes in life. You give us everything we need rather than everything we want. Help us to focus each day on you for you are the One who holds our life together. And help us not to keep you for ourselves but to share the rich blessings you bring with those whom we meet. Amen.
