Exodus 33
13 If it is true that you look favourably on me, (then) let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favour. And remember that this nation is your very own people.”
And a moment later….
15 Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, (then) don’t make us leave this place.”
In Exodus 33 God continues to ask Moses to lead God’s people. How does Moses respond? By putting conditions on God…

It is hard to commit to something when you don’t know exactly where it’s going to take you and that is exactly what happens when we set out to try and walk in Jesus’ footsteps. He takes us unexpected places. He surprises us with joys and challenges and sometimes it feels a bit like we’re taking one step forward and twenty back! But that’s the thing about our faith journey. It has to be taken…. in faith! We can take some comfort from knowing that even the great Moses found following God unnerving and difficult.

Moses needed to know God was before, behind and beside him.
We do too.
Let’s commit to expecting him to.
We need to know your there, heavenly Father.
Or rather here.
We need to know you prepare the way
And follow on behind.
We need to know
Even when we cannot know with our head,
That we are on the path you want us to take…
Be our spiritual GPS
Showing us where to turn,
Finding alternative routes for us when we go awry
Warning us of dangers
And bringing us at last
To ‘Home’.
To rest safe with you.
