Open My Eyes
Luke 5: 12-13
12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’
13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ And immediately the leprosy left him.
I am so often the centre of my own creation,
Immune to the pain of others and the world.
At the deepest level of my heart I know there can be ugliness,
Ugliness I am afraid to release;
Ugliness I own and sometimes I even like.
It forms the horizon that contains my world.
I live with no thought of what lays beyond.
Open my eyes Father to the possibilities;
Let me see the world beyond.
So that I may have the courage to leave my boat and nets.
To move from my creation towards Yours.
