Moved and moving
Luke 2:3
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
Something of the disruption, the travel chaos, the driving home for Christmas, the whole out of the ordinariness of Christmas was forced on 1st century Palestine because of this census.
Dear God
It doesn’t take much to make us grumble
A red light where we want a green
A wet day where we want dry
A call when we want peace
Any number of little annoyances
Inconveniences
Demonstrations that we are not as much in control
As we like to think
We rejoice
That we are not flotsam and jetsam
On the tide of human affairs
But part of the intricate dance of your will
Part of your loving plan
Moved and moving
Martialled and disposed
According to a drum beat
We but faintly hear
Amen.
