Mission
Matthew 9: 35 – 38
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
The hymn says, “The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord,” so we will take it as read that all we pray for in and through the Church we do so in the name of Jesus.
We pray for mission to be not so much a part of the work of the Church of Scotland but to be the character of everything that is done.
Reaching-out God, thank you for reaching out to us and holding us to this day in your love. We pray that you will reach out to others through the work of the Church of Scotland. Where people are hurting, in their bodies, in their minds and in their spirits, let them come to know about your healing love through the agencies of the church and where the church has been an offence to some let it now become an instrument of reconciliation.
