Mending My days
Psalm 90:12
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
The weekend has arrived. Saturday is often a day for catching up, a day for maintaining life and relationships. Some people will be preparing for guests coming round later. Some will still be sleeping while the morning unfolds. Others will be catching up with domestic chores. Some fortunate people will be going on holiday. When the day ends it is not what we have done that matters it will be what we have contributed that really matters. Taking that one small step to restore a lost relationship could reconnect a whole network. Now that is the kind of net contribution that is worth mending.
Lord,
I like Saturdays
I like when I can ease into the day
Take my time
Enjoy breakfast
Turn on the radio
Catch up with the sport
Reflect on the past week
Lord
I enjoy taking time
In your presence
Listening
Thinking
Considering
Connecting
Mending
Turning things over
Resting
Preparing for Sunday
I like days
Like these
To often its
Rush
Rush
Rush
No time
Forgive me
For the days
When I appear to have done so much
But contributed so little
Help me mend my days.
