Luke 1: 52-55 (NRSVA)

52 

He has brought down the powerful from their thrones,
    and lifted up the lowly;

53 

he has filled the hungry with good things,
    and sent the rich away empty.

54 

He has helped his servant Israel,
    in remembrance of his mercy,

55 

according to the promise he made to our ancestors,
    to Abraham and to his descendants for ever.’

How must it feel to say “from now on all generations shall call me blessed”?

That’s a heck of a responsibility.

Blessed.

But what bravery there is in this. 

I accept I’ve been blessed. I’m going to tell everyone I’ve been blessed. Since my wee brush with death I’ve been so lucky to tell all and sundry how I was blessed. What a blessing it was to have your heart stopped and live to tell the tale!! People who love me don’t feel so blessed, it was awful. The spirit remains, however. 

If God has rescued you then send the message far and wide. “All generations shall call me blessed” now that! That! Is a blues belter as we say in the trade.

Blue is the colour of the morning light,
Blue is the colour of the baby’s eyes and blue is colour before sunrise
And Blue is the colour of a perfect sky

Prayer:

Lord,

Remind me I have been blessed

Remind me to shout it out loud

Or whisper it quietly

Or put it in my profile

But help me let the world know

I’m blessed

I’m so blessed
