Making Room For All
Listen to this daily worship
Leviticus 19: 9-10, 33-34 (NRSVA)
9 When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very edges of your field, or gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 You shall not strip your vineyard bare, or gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the alien: I am the Lord your God.
33 When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. 34 The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
Lord Jesus your actions over 2000 years ago changed everything.
You shed your blood on the cross to cleanse us of our sins.
You overcame the grave to give us life.
You changed everything!
Today Lord Jesus help us to be the changemakers,
who bring life where there was death.
Help us to work for an end to poverty.
Help us to campaign and work towards a world where resources are shared and economic structures bring justice.
Help us to see we are all children of our Father God and take away any fears and anxieties we have about those who come seeking shelter and a home in our country.
Help us Lord to be hospitable, welcoming those who have come to live in our communities:
Those who are fleeing war
Those who are fleeing persecution and oppression
Those who are fleeing climate change induced hardship and hunger
Those who are coming to be with loved ones who went on ahead before them.
Prayer:
Lord help us to be changemakers.
Give us courage and vision to encourage our elected representatives to create compassionate immigration laws.
Give us wisdom and voice to campaign for justice and mercy.
Help us to live peacefully in your love.
Thank you for your life-giving, life-changing example
Amen
