Love

1John 4:19

We love because he first loved us.

I felt ashamed to day Lord,
A young woman and child got on the train and sat beside me.
The woman was dressed in black, black hair, black eyeliner……..
Black nail polish, black lipstick………..I drew back in my seat………
The little girl was bright in dress and outlook, with her book and colouring pens.
I was aware of others in the carriage nearby looking, judging, just like me………
And then………..it began……….

“I love you mummy”
“I love you too darling”
a few seconds later
“I love you mummy”
“I love you too darling”
“Mummy I really love you!”
“And I you, forever and for always”

And so it continued for the rest of the journey,
A litany of love, offered and received………………

A those journeying were changed, softened, opened, warmed, as deep called to deep, your Spirit was moving among us and within us, ministering to our brokenness and longing for relationship.

“A new command I give to you : love one another. 
As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”

“We love because God first loved us”

Simple isn’t it Lord, a mandate for the Church, let’s be bold and do it, speak it.
