Light-bearers
Listen to this daily worship
1 John 1 :5-7
5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true; 7 but if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Fellowship of Light
It takes a life to bring us light. The life of Christ,
lived for us, given up for us, won back for us,
raised high for us, poured out for us,
promised for us, returning for us.
It makes a life to hear about that light,
to discover that light, to receive that light,
to exult in that light, to reflect that light,
to share that light, to proclaim that light.
It takes a lifetime to learn to walk in light,
to let God poke around in dark corners,
to hold our politics and predilections up to the light,
to let light shine through our profiles and personalities. © Jock Stein 2017
Walk the talk, don’t block the walk. Prick the pride, don’t kick aside your neighbour, who is out walking also. We never stop learning to live the Christian life. It has been said that the entrance fee to the Kingdom of God is nothing, but the annual subscription is everything you’ve got. It does not get easier as we age, but the King is no less friendly and forgiving than when we began. In that light, take some good photos this week, savour some precious moments.
PRAYER:
Lord, we thank you for all we have experienced of the light which shines on in the darkness, the light the world has never overcome. We bless you for every person who has reflected that light our way, and for every picture which the light has made good. May we be light-bearers and light-sharers, through the same Jesus Christ our living Lord, Amen.
