Life’s realities
Philippians 4:6-7
Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
The brown envelopes fall on the mat,
The phone calls keep coming,
The text messages urge me to call them,
The knocks on the door are becoming more threatening.
I am scared.
It’s cold, but I have no coat.
It’s hot, but I have only woollen clothes.
It’s raining, but I have no hood.
It’s windy, but I have no hat.
I am scared.
The lights went out long ago.
The fridge has been empty for two days.
The holidays are coming, the free school meals stop.
The cupboards are bare.
I am scared.
“Do not be anxious “ you say? You should live in my shoes, my reality. I need to make decisions that will improve my life, but I don’t know where to begin. Help me, show me, guard and protect me, Lord Jesus.
