Let’s move
Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 72: 18-20 (NRSVA)
18
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
who alone does wondrous things.19
Blessed be his glorious name for ever;
may his glory fill the whole earth.
Amen and Amen.20
The prayers of David son of Jesse are ended.
Mission is a daunting project when you think of it alone. How can we small humans bring God’s love to all the edges of the world? The simple answer is we can’t, and that is of course where God comes in. God who, as Psalm 72 reminds us, does wondrous things.
Sitting in our too static lives, our big old buildings, our comfortable routines, it can be easy to forget that God is alive and dynamic. God is open and accepting. God is mission, God is movement.
God is in the universe and God is in the planet. God is always growing and changing God is as slow as a tree and as slow as a star. God is faster than a rocket and faster than the internet.
God doesn’t have to go the long way, like the Psalter sitting in peat for hundreds of years, God is then and here and already beyond us.
We don’t need to worry about whether we can move, we just need to grab the hand of God who is already in motion.
Prayer:
Dear God who moves
Lead us in the dance you are dancing
Brush away our cobwebs and our doubts
Show us your possibilities and your hope
Give us the courage to step out with you
Amen
