Leaving troubled waters behind
Listen to this daily worship
Exodus 2: 5-6 (NRSVA)
5 The daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her attendants walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her maid to bring it. 6 When she opened it, she saw the child. He was crying, and she took pity on him. ‘This must be one of the Hebrews’ children,’ she said.
Moses did not choose to go into the Nile and he did not choose who would find him — but the river delivered him to a new future and was part of making him who he was. All sorts of circumstances in our upbringing that we have no control over shape who we are to become and it’s with God’s grace that we trust that the broken pieces can be made into a beautiful mosaic.
