Keeping it in the family
Proverbs 17:21 & 19:18
There is nothing but sadness and sorrow for parents whose children do foolish things.
Discipline your children while they are young enough to learn.
If you don't, you are helping them destroy themselves.
“Get down here NOW!”
and then she swore in ugly rage
but to no effect.
Defiance reigned.
Tut-tuts rippled round the lower deck
from uneasy spectators
of a mother-daughter war.
Oh Jesus,
if the Bible was a parenting manual
it would be dog-eared and scribbled on,
pored over in the pub
and hotly debated in the media.
Parenting…
the hardest thing we ever do
the harshest judgements we ever make
the deep taboo against interfering
Where are you
as children learn dysfunction as normality?
Here you are,
on the bus,
weeping at our embarrassed silence.
