Kazunzu — hope, love and community
Listen to this daily worship
Acts 2: 38–39 (NRSVA)
38 Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to him.’
In October 2019 I took part in a Vine Trust construction expedition to Kazunzu Village of Hope in Tanzania. It was a profound and amazing experience. It challenged me to rethink what it means to be part of God’s global family. This week I am sharing reflections from the trip. It feels strange to be writing this at this time. Much of the world is in lockdown, borders are closed, and our focus feels narrowed to our immediate community. While Vine Trust’s expeditions are paused, our in-country staff and partners continue the vital work of serving communities in Peru and Tanzania.
Vine Trust are working in partnership with the African Inland Church of Tanzania to build the Kazunzu Village of Hope on the shores of Lake Victoria. The village will be a place of hope, home, education, security and work for 200 orphaned children from some of Tanzania’s most vulnerable communities. The vision is bold, beautiful and transformative – with hope, love and community at the heart of it.
Space to reflect: Amidst all that is happening in our world right now, where are you seeing hope, love and community emerge?
PRAYER:
Dear God,
Thank you that we are not alone in this
help us to be your hope
love and community in action.
Amen.
