Matthew 21: 42-44 (NRSVA)

42 Jesus said to them, ‘Have you never read in the scriptures:

“The stone that the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone;
this was the Lord’s doing,
    and it is amazing in our eyes”?

43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that produces the fruits of the kingdom. 44 The one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and it will crush anyone on whom it falls.’

And we’re back where we began.

Except this time, the cornerstone has a name Jesus!

Even although the people don’t see it, this is God’s plan, it is marvellous!

All that I would have myself be

Erodes to sand and dust before you,

You,

The capstone,

The cornerstone.

The perfect example,

Without whom nothing makes sense,

Nothing in life holds shape.

Be my centre,

Be the one who gives my life shape,

Meaning, wholeness.

The One who holds me in place.

Amen.
