I’m your child
Psalm 131:1-2
LORD, I have given up my pride and turned away from my arrogance.
I am not concerned with great matters or with subjects too difficult for me.
Instead, I am content and at peace.
As a child lies quietly in its mother's arms, so my heart is quiet within me.
Dear God
I come to You in prayer
as I did when I was small
praying the prayer
- the first one -
I have learned
dear Lord Jesus, meek and mild
look down on me - I'm your child
teach me kindly how to pray
lead my heart on Your own way...
...but so much have changed
Then, o Lord, all was simple and clear
faith unquestioned and life straightforward
Knowing was easy - almost obvious
and faith unchallenged young and innocent
now there are times of unknowing
and many moments waiting and seeking for an answer
but
let me know
once again
that in your eyes
I am but still
your child...
Amen
