How We Can Know God
1 John 4:10
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Colossians 1: 9-14
9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[d] to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Loving Heavenly Father- we ask you this day that we may grow in our knowledge of God, as your word encourages us to do so. We come to confess we have sinned, and are in need of you to cleanse from all sin.
We thank you Lord for the greatest truth we can possibly know. For the truth which is the cornerstone and foundation on knowledge of God. For the truth that sets us free. Lord, we thank you that you knew us, and loved us first- and that that love was displayed so clearly at Calvary as Christ poured out His blood, that your justice might be satisfied, and our sins forgiven.
We thank you for the testimony of Scripture that Christ Jesus came into the world with the sole mission and focus of saving sinners, and that it is only because you knew and loved us first, that we can now believe in that sacrifice for our personal salvation, and embark on the amazing journey of knowing God in this life.
Thank you for Jesus, and your initiating love in our hearts. Amen.
