John 14: 1-3

I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life

14 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Day after day, week after week, year after year,
we meet beautiful, gifted, exciting, precious young people.
Again and again we hear their surprise that there’s a place for them,
their relief that there’s a place for them,
their profound gratitude that there’s a place for them.
“It made me feel like I was wanted in the world”
“I broke down… she helped me through… helped me speak”
“They believe in me… where I’m comfortable to be myself, free to grow”
“a safe place to be myself”
I’m surprised at how surprised they are,
until I remember how unlikely it seems that you would have a place for me.
For me, the way I am, the things I’ve done, do.

Thank you there’s a room for me,
thank you for preparing a place for me,
thank you there’s a place for me with you.

Thank you that there are many rooms,
many rooms,
rooms for many,
rooms for any,
in our Father’s house.
