Matthew 25: 34-40

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Loving Father,
I thank you today for memories of meeting you in unexpected places.
Places that had previously no meaning to me but now have become holy places.
I met you in hospital when I was ill.
You transformed my hospital room into a sanctuary and my bed into an altar.
I met you at a school assembly hall where you warmed my heart on a cold day.
The arguments at home stopped being such a worry for just a few moment because I was with you in my holy place.
I met you at the shop where a stranger helped me with my shopping.
Was he an angel or an ordinary saint sent by You to be my help?
Thank you that this shop is now a place I remember as somewhere God does business.
I met you at work,
at home,
at Church,
in the country,
on a hill
and in the dark places where my journey was one of mind and not body.
I remember Joseph in a jail in Egypt.
A place of sorrow and hopelessness to most but not to him.
Even here, Father,
your presence turned a "hell hole" into a "holy place".

I pray today to have the eyes to see Christ in ordinary places and in seeing Him there I may see the ordinary become holy.  Through Christ our Lord. Amen
