Grant me the grace to live well
Isaiah 3:10
Tell the righteous it will be well with them,
for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.
Our theme this week has invited us to reflect on the importance of understanding the nature and power of God’s Word to transform and renew our world. God's Word when it is preached in the power of the Spirit, turns ideas and thoughts into actions. It is the grace filled gospel preacher that lifts the hearts and the spirits of the lost and weary. The gospel is never an invitation to do better, as a sign of repentance; instead repentance is the consequence of grace (encountered and received through faith) that is given, not earned.
The theme 'Jesus In Conversation with the Church', has also sought to inspire us to use the words we use in our conversations with greater care and with renewed confidence and faith. We believe that Christ himself enters into our conversations. For he has promised ‘Look I am with you always even to the end of the age’. May we all find that we have grown in grace and understanding and that our prayerful words have become prayer filled realities.
Good morning Lord,
It's another misty Saturday morning,
Sleep still holds me still
In a moment
I will awake from the depth
My spirit will stir
My body move
My eyes open
Like a resurrection
I will have become aware
Before long I will speak again
And enter the day.
Lord grant me the grace to live it well
Guard my tongue
Enrich my mind
Empower my words
Refresh my conversation
Soften my heart
Give strength to my will
That I might live unseen
Except that all may know
Your grace has touched their souls
Come Holy Spirit of God
Awake our souls to live in the presence of eternity
As the mist of the morning lifts
Chasing the shadow of fear into the light of hope
Causing us to believe it's going to be a good Saturday!
