God’s Holiness
Listen to this daily worship
Ephesians 1: 4 (NRSVA)
4 just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love.
When I was a wee girl I loved the song We are Climbing Jacob’s Ladder. I especially loved the chorus:
“Rise Up, Shine Up, Give God the Glory (Glory)
Rise Up, Shine Up, Give God the Glory (Glory)
Rise Up, Shine Up, Give God the Glory (Glory)
Soldiers of the Cross.”
In the innocence of a child, I imagined getting up out of bed each morning and washing myself in God’s love and glory. Then I’d be able to go out and shine for the Lord. To shine like our Lord Jesus himself.
Maybe we need to think as a child and imagine ourselves this morning (and every morning) getting up and as we wash ourselves, being washed in God’s love so that we go out into the world shining and reflecting our Lord God.
PRAYER:
Father wash me in your love,
Removing all that dulls me.
Make me shine Lord.
Make me shine like Jesus
Help me to reflect your Glory
Within the world and to everyone I encounter
Amen
