Ecclesiastes 11:9-10
Rejoice, young man, while you are young, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Follow the inclination of your heart and the desire of your eyes, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. Banish anxiety from your mind, and put away pain from your body; for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.
God of generosity,
You make this world marvellous, and we want to appreciate it in so many ways. You offer us life in all its fullness, and we want to grasp that challenge, so to understand what our living is all about.
We know that Jesus lived life to the full, revelling in other people’s company and appreciating their fellowship over food and drink. For him, life was for living, for loving, for sharing.
Like a young person setting out on faith’s great journey, may all our hearts be cheered by the knowledge of your nearness, so that we might enjoy you and your many blessings. In all our living, we ask that you would keep our hearts and minds close to you, always challenging us to true discipleship and the service both of heaven and of earth. AMEN.
