Philippians 3:20 - 4:1 (NRSVA)

20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we are expecting a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. 21 He will transform the body of our humiliation so that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, by the power that also enables him to make all things subject to himself.

(4) 1 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved.

One of the challenges at Kazunzu is water. There’s water somewhere on the site — but, so far, the bore hole drilling hasn’t hit it. The water engineers had identified three new test sites where they planned to sink a bore hole. One lunch time a group of us set out to pray at each bore hole site. When we arrived at the first bore hole site — we weren’t quite sure what the plan was. We shuffled around uncomfortably until someone took the lead and sunk to their knees on the hard, thorny ground. The rest of the group followed. Then one of those moments unfolded when you just know that you are in the presence of the Holy Spirit. People praying in three different languages, face down on the ground tears streaming down our faces asking God for our shared heart’s desire — water for the village. The experience changed me for ever — I felt with every fibre of my being what it means to be united in Christ.

Space to reflect: When lockdown has closed borders and your focus maybe feels narrowed to your immediate community, what does it mean to be part of God’s global family at this time?

PRAYER:

Dear God,
Thank you that we are part of your global family
encourage us to look ever outward
to seek new opportunities to connect and bless one another.
Amen.
