Psalm 150: 6 (NRSVA)
6 Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
Here at Scargill House we have just experienced three weeks of our Summer Arts Festival. Each week, the House forms a unique community, as it is hard to distinguish between guests, volunteers and Community members doing life together and enjoying the Festival.
We have wonderful guest artists: Christians (singers, actors, magicians, comedians, writers) who share an evening performance with us. We interview them at the evening chat show and learn how God has gifted them with a particular enthusiasm and skill which has led them on often surprising paths to share their work both in churches and secular venues. Their work may not overtly speak of Jesus, but they find that God uses their artistic talent to bring hope to people as they serve Jesus in these places.
PRAYER:
Praise the Lord
Praise God in the Chapel, on the Estate and in this valley.
Praise God on his majestic hills with muddy boots, and muddy dogs, chattering and cake.
Praise God for his acts of kindness in building us together as community week by week.
Praise God for this marvellous medley of folk from youngest child to oldest grandparent.
Praise God for the abundant flow of water from the sky, from the spring, through tents, from dishwashers, in showers and in loos.
Praise him with the sounding of the dinner bell, the fire alarm and lift alarm.
Praise him with guitar, and piano, with voice and flute, drums and cymbals.
Praise God with violin and trumpet, microphone and drama, story and play.
Praise God with jazz, with folk, operatic arias and silly songs.
Praise God with the Virginia Reel, the Hokey Cokey and the Circassian Circle.
Praise Him with whooping and waterslides, football and French cricket.
Praise Him with jokes and laughter, barbeques and bonfires.
Praise Him with tears and tantrums, screams and shouts.
Praise Him with resounding clapping, buzzing hoovers, cups of tea and wonderful food.
Praise him with whispers and silence, gesture and movement.
Whoever we are, wherever we are coming from and whenever we are going.
our praises are seen and heard by the God who welcomes them all.
Together, let us praise the Lord.
