End of the Road
Philippians 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
Keep right on to the end of the road,
Keep right on to the end,
Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong,
Keep right on round the bend.
Tho' you're tired and weary still journey on,
Till you come to your happy abode,
Where all the love you've been dreaming of
Will be there at the end of the road.
(written by Sir Harry Lauder after his son was killed in the First World War)
Father, if we have nothing else, may we have faithful hope;
hope that the Saviour will come again and take us to be with you;
hope that our expendable human bodies will be left behind
and we will be freed to live in the spirit.
As we journey on
may we press on through all the hardships of life and of faith,
focussing our eyes on you,
holding on to the outstretched hand of Christ
who is our Lord and our Saviour.
Amen
