Cultivating Ground
Genesis 2
Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground–trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food…The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work [“cultivate’‘] it and take care of it.”
Great God of the garden
Today I pray
Let me remember
That I am made to tend your creation
To cultivate ground that you have prepared
To plant seeds which you have supplied
To encourage growth which you have established
To guard young shoots which you have nourished
To prune old wood when its service to you is done
Thank you, God
That you have called me
Not only to be part of your creation
But part of your creativity
Amen.
