Luke 5: 12-13

12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy.  When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’

13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ And immediately the leprosy left him.

Pain is so much a part of my daily living,
Pain that keeps me awake and pain that restricts my movements.
How much easier would life be if it were gone?
If I could be both willing and clean.
In my pain there has been growth and change.
It’s become a part of me;
a part that’s brought deliverance and new perspective.

Lord, don’t take away what can make me grow.
Help me to see my own suffering as a window on the world.
And through it understand a little of all You bore for us.
