Choose life!

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and holding fast to him; for that means life to you and length of days, so that you may live in the land that the Lord swore to give to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

In a world full of choices
we are paralysed by indecision
In all our freedom
we long for restrictions - 
For someone to guide and direct.
Because the constant demand to choose
leads to confusion
and dissatisfaction
the constant wondering - 
Did we get it right?
Generous God of the candy store of life
direct our decisions today.
Help us to choose life
when there are so many pedlars of death.
Help us to choose that which will enrich and sustain
from all that is fleeting and short lived.
Make us grateful for choices
but give us wisdom in our discernment.
Lead us to those gifts that come from you
and lead us back to you
our rock and our redeemer.
