Checking In
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
Thanks for bringing me here Lord
I needed the rest
I wanted to stop
I wanted to get away
But you know how it is
Always something to be done.
And so you make me
You make me lie down.
Even now, after all this time,
I can’t always tell when I need time out
To recharge, restore, revive
My flagging soul.
So you make me
And you bring me
Here to this place
Of peace and quiet and rest
Beside still waters.
You make me
Because you know what’s best
Better than I do (though its hard to admit!)
And I drink it in
And lie down on green grass
And my soul is restored
Thanks for bringing me here Lord
Amen
