Genesis 1: 28

God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.
Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’

Did you know, Lord…

That we would take your delegation of responsibility
    and turn it into a license to plunder?

So how are we to retrieve the situation,
    as emerging economies claim their right 
    to ravish mother earth?

Without you nothing was made that has been made
    and with you all things become possible…

And you have made humankind in your image,
so, please God, grant us the ability and the energy 
    to address the challenges we face together 
    for the sake of the life that is ours - in you.

But first, bring us to our senses:
    for lo he comes, riding on the clouds!
