Romans 8: 26-27 (NIVUK)

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

There was a time when I would never have believed that out of my mouth could come a heavenly language. I had heard of this phenomenon, this strange tongue. These utterances of the Holy Spirit.

It comes when human language is no longer enough. Sometimes we speak it publicly as the whole church comes together, and sometimes it defines and edifies our private conversations with God.

Either way, it comes as a gift.

The Spiritual Words flow bewilderingly like a fresh river out of us.

There is only one way to receive such a gift, I realised. I took the apostles' advice
and earnestly prayed for the gift. And he gracefully and unrelentingly gave so that by His own Spirit he could intercede for us through groans, according to his will.

Prayer:

Speaking Spirit
Thank you that you no longer hover
over the darkness of the water
but you splash in, delve deep
throw asunder what was stagnant
and bring new life.
Bathe me in the waters of your Word
make my heart Groan and yearn
for more of you.
Fill me up, Lord, Fill me Up.
Amen
