Awake my soul
Matthew 6: 33-34
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Everyone has days when we want to be still and we can’t. On days like these we resent the pace of life that has built up around us. Too often the people we work with also find the strain and stress of our work output impinging on their lives.
We may not be able to make instant changes but we can decide to slowly take the foot off the gas, reduce our work demands and create a Tuesday evening that is making plans for a more peace filled life.
Good Morning Lord,
refNothing seems to change
It’s a misty morning
And I feel a bit hazy
I struggled to sleep last night
Now I’ve got a crick in my neck
I want to speak longer with you - Lord
I’d like time to read my Bible
Not just a text
I’d like more time to be still
To slow down
Time to live more
But I have to go -
Soon I’ll hit the traffic
Very soon I’ll be in the rush hour madness
Still this whirlwind in me
In the midst of all this busyness
Let me be an example to others
Give me the peace that passes all understanding
Keep my mind in conversation with your will
Give me eyes to see where the light is shining
Give me words to speak in good taste
Come Holy Spirit of God
Awake my soul to sing of your goodness
Let your light still shine through me
Even when the sun is setting on a Tuesday evening.
