Matthew 6: 5-6 (AMP)

5 “Also, when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to pray [publicly] standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets so that they may be seen by all. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, they [already] have their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your most private room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you.

The call to holy living is to drop ostentatious acts, delete self-promotion, and decry an elevated status. It is a life of humble serving, loving mercy and acting justly because of whom we live for. The Father of Glory. We can live out this calling because of who is calling us, the One who sees us. Like an artist sees a picture in their heart or mind’s-eye and then lets it flow out from them, composing the colours so they are just so, where each one is seen and needs to be, to build up the work into what it needs to be.

Today, my words are few.

Go to your private place where it is just you and God, and pray to your Father in Heaven.

Prayer:

The Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6 in the Amplified translation:

Our Father, who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins as we forgive any who have sinned against us, letting go of both the wrong and the resentment.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
