All are welcome
Mark 10:13-16
Some people brought children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples scolded the people. When Jesus noticed this, he was angry and said to his disciples, "Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it." Then he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on each of them, and blessed them.
‘Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’
Loving God, the children were told
Jesus is too busy with important people
you are not important
there is no place for you here
Jesus has no time for you
you do not belong
But Jesus was angry that his friends were saying these things. He turned the whole thing around , he rejected the words of his disciples and he said ‘Let the children come to me, and do not stop them.’
Father, it is so refreshing for us to know that the children did belong and that there was a place for them at Jesus’ side, at his feet, on his knee. We give thanks that even those the world considered unimportant were important to Jesus. We
We give thanks that Jesus welcomes everyone who comes to him - even us. We give thanks that by his invitation and his grace we belong at his side and at his feet to receive his blessing he longs to give. AMEN.
